This looks like it is from a TV-show and the making of the “sushi” is abut 1′30 min out into the video. GreenChef Melissa Davison makes a Raw Organic Fruit Sushi in the GreenChefs kitchen. Looks good!
Haven’t found any sushi celebrities lately and here I’ve got two! Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel. I think they are both great, so of course they like eating sushi. And they went to a restaurant I have actually been at! Cool. We did not like the restaurant they went to that much actually, but it might have been because we are not celebrities…?
“The “SexyBack” stud and his “Summer Catch” sweetie were spotted leaving Katsuya Sushi restaurant in Studio City, Los Angeles after a romantic dinner out on August 5th.”
For more info - go to Gossip Girls. You can also check out our review of the sushi place they went to.

Sushi & Thaimat has been recommended on this site before. Thank you guys! Not all of the recommendations we get we agree with, but that is a good thing. It is good that we have our own favorites around town, so that we won’t all be in line at the same places…
This recommendation I totally agree with though. Sushi & Thaimat was a good experience and I will come back for more…
We have had an example of making your own a hashi-oki or chopstick rest before. This design is much more advanced. It is made by Matthew Gardiner, who I found on a website called Papercrane.org - an organization “founded in Australia but supporting origami around the world”.
The design was made especially for their “Sunday Arts show”. It shows how you can be creative with even the most unusual shaped paper. So next time you order sushi, be sure to fold it into this duck. The paper from the chopsticks, not your sushi!

Ah. Sushi stuffed animals, or more correctly - sushi stuffed cats! This very cute Nyanko cat sushi plush set is for hugging, not eating. The seaweed are also removable too, and the set is nicely packed in a clear plastic box with illustrated card at the bottom and the back. This is an absolutely super cute collectible item! Very limited and hard to get a hold of! The website that has these pictures says they are sold out.

This cake is made by Zoe Lukas and is what she calls vegetarian sushi… It is made out of spiced carrot ginger cake with cream cheese icing, and the both the the chopsticks, soy sauce bowl, snap peas are of course also edible and made out of gum-paste. The bamboo, wasabi and ginger are made out of fondant, while the rice is coconut. Yummy! Wish I had a cooking friend like this!

Unfortunately I won’t be able to attend this years “Seven Sushi Samurai” event either. I will probably be playing mum right around then, and I guess just a couple of weeks is a bit too early to be introducing the little rascal to sushi… If it was only up to me…
But the rest of you should go! And getting tickets are suppose to be hard to get if you wait - last years event was totally sold out. The seven sushi chefs are annually selected from countries around the globe to represent the very pinnacle of sushi talent around the world in Eat-Japan’s Sushi Awards.

“Founded by veterans of Google and YouTube, Howcast.com tries to brings together the personality of user-generated content with the quality of a professional video studio to create engaging, informative, and free how-to videos for consumers.” It is a great service for when you look for good quality videos. Here is one that in an educating way shows you how to make nigiri sushi.

Lutefisk sush??i! Yuck is my initial reaction. Lutefisk is something we in Norway eat for xmas, and consists of a vile looking, soda lye treated salted/dried white fish. I don’t care for it much. (I guess my Norwegian passport will be taken from me now… :). I understand it is also quite popular in all the Nordic countries in addition to North America and Canada. And obviously Minnesota.
Because “Lutefisk sushi” here is the name of an annual Minnesotan cartoonist tradition. They have a community of cartoonists who every year or two have this event where they are to create a one-of-a-kind mini-comic. Each artist prints up to 150 copies, and each copy goes in a hand-silkscreened bento box that is stuffed with more comics and sold.

A great post over at the blog “Stuff white people like“, where sushi is the topic #42. Apparently there are three types of white sushi eating peoples;
- The spicy tuna/california roll eaters; who get their fix at places named “Rock And Roll!” “Magic Sushi Company,” or Trader Joes-type supermarkets.
- The entry level Sushi snob, these are people who still love rolls, but are willing to branch out to Salmon and Tuna sashimi, maybe even eel
- The white sushi snob - where you only sit at the sushi bar, will try to order in Japanese and will only order Omakase. These people will often be extremely critical of anyone who eats a roll of any type or does not properly flip the nigiri into their mouths…
One of our sushi heroes, Trevor Corson, was the judge on Iron Chef America a couple of weeks back. Here he got to taste a lot of brilliant of food and looks like he belongs on TV. You’ll have your own show soon, Trevor!
The episode was called “Battle Blackfish,” and stood between Michael Cimarusti of Providence restaurant in L.A. against Iron Chef Morimoto. Enjoy!

An absolutely lovely porcelain sushi set from Austria’s Feinedinge handmade ceramics. The choice of colors and images for the embellishment are beautiful and I would love to have some of these.

Right next to Phero sushi you find Grand Sushi. That there is a market for these two sushi take out places up here in addition to Sushihuset just a bit further down on Carl Berners Plass is a mystery, but they are all doing ok it seems like.
Of the three I think I like Grand Sushi the best. It smells clean, the fish is properly kept and laid out, the service is friendly and quite fast, so as a take out place on my way from work, it works very well.

Are you a wasabi pea addict? Can’t stop eating them? Can’t stop thinking about them? Me too! At least before this test… I wanted to find out which brand that had the best wasabi peas out there…
